Draw from the Holster

Build Confidence. Practice Safely. Improve Your Skills.

Ready to become more comfortable drawing from a holster and transitioning safely to the shooting position?

Our new Draw From Holster Class is designed for shooters who want to build confidence and proficiency with holster use in a controlled, structured environment. Students will learn the fundamentals of holster selection, carry positions, safe drawing techniques, and live-fire application.

Classes begin in September.

Classroom Session: Tuesdays | 7:00–8:00 PM
Range Session: Sundays | 2:00–3:00 PM

Basic Handgun Proficiency Required

This class is intended for students who already have basic handgun proficiency.

Before participating in the live-fire portion of the course, students will need to demonstrate good trigger control and safe firearm management from the holster through the shooting position.

Safety is the priority. Students must demonstrate the required level of safe firearm handling before being approved for the range portion of the class.

What You’ll Learn

The course will cover:

  • Carry Options — Explore different methods of carrying a handgun and their advantages.
  • Carry Positions — Understand common holster positions and how placement affects your draw.
  • Holster Materials — Learn about different holster construction options and what to consider when choosing one.
  • Drawing Positions — Develop a consistent process for safely moving from the holster to the shooting position.
  • Safety vs. Speed — Learn why proper technique and consistency come before trying to draw faster.
  • Live-Fire Practice — Apply what you’ve learned during supervised range exercises.

What You’ll Need

For the range portion of the class, students should bring:

  • Belt
  • Holster and properly fitting firearm
  • Magazine holder
  • At least one extra magazine

Please note: SERPA-style holsters are not permitted.

Don’t Have a Holster Yet?

That’s okay.

If you don’t have all of the necessary equipment yet, you can still attend the Tuesday classroom session. You’ll learn about holster, belt, and carry options before purchasing your equipment for the Sunday range session.

This can be especially helpful for newer shooters who aren’t sure which holster setup is right for them.

Who Is This Class For?

This class is ideal for handgun owners who understand basic firearm operation but want to become more comfortable, confident, and proficient drawing and shooting from a holster.

Whether you’re preparing to carry regularly or simply want to expand your handgun skills, you’ll get structured instruction and an opportunity to practice those skills in a controlled environment.
